One weekend afternoon I was flipping through the TV channels and came across a show on the Sundance Channel, Quirky. If you are a fan of Shark Tank, you’ll be a fan of Quirky. Quirky is a company started in 2009 by the young and innovative Ben Kaufman. What makes this company so innovative – the problem solving products they bring to market are invented by regular folks. I ordered from Quirky about a year ago – a MacBook PowerCurl Cord Wrap. Great idea and a great product.
One of their top selling products is the Pivot Power, a power strip that swivels to allow those large adapters to fit. I know we all have dealt with this and you are probably saying to yourself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Besides ordering products on their website, you can now find their products at Bed, Bath & Beyond, The Container Store, Frontgate, and Amazon to name a few.
Visit quirky.com to find the latest products being produced or even vote on possible new products that have the most potential. Also check out their show on the Sundance Channel which follows the process of an idea being submitted, how their community collaborates with their award-winning design staff to take products from sketch to reality. Quirky’s staff of engineers, designers, technicians, researchers and marketers works to design products with consumers, for consumers. They even have an app for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
